US midterms hand Democrats control of Congress

Democrats won control of the US House and Senate in Tuesday’s midterm elections, according to the Associated Press. The AP called Senate control on election night and the House early Wednesday.

The result changes who will set the agenda in Congress when the new terms begin. Democrats will be able to set committee priorities and decide which bills come to a vote in both chambers. President Donald Trump remains in office, and his administration now faces a Congress controlled by the opposition.
